Which Porto hotel?
We're planning a 10-12 day trip to Portugal in June, including a visit to Porto. Of the hotels in and around the city, The Yeatman had been highly recommended. What I've read seems to support the recommendation, though I wonder if a more centrally located hotel might be a better choice. We will have a rented car, so a nearby parking option will be essential.
Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated.

nrwayne,
The Yeatman is really in a class of its own, a beautiful, extremely well-run wine-centric, classic Portuguese style hotel, member of Relais & Châteaux with truly stunning views of the city from its perched atop a hill in Gaia, with a 2 Michelin-starred restaurant with fantastic and enormous wine cellar, an infinity pool, spa with indoor pool, and it sits next door to the Taylor port lodge and just up the hill from the new WOW (World of Wine) and surrounded by other port lodges. So for dedicated wine lovers it can be a wonderful experience (and peaceful).
The disadvantage, as you note, is that it doesn't sit in the heart of Porto so not as convenient for touring, especially for a short stay.
The other 5-star hotels in the center of Porto, in the convenient Aliados area that I've seen and whose interiors have really, really impressed me are
1. La Maison Albar Le Monumental Palace on Aliados itself (with valet parking)
2. And the (fairly) newly redone, very historic Infante Sagres, the city's classic (nearby public garage).
The Palacio de las Cardosas is a member of IHG and also on Aliados but larger and doesn't seem as personal to me as the 2 above (but with valet parking).
I also like the PortoBay Flores on the pedestrianized Rua das Flores, which has several new hotels including a Pousada (4 star) and the Casa da Companhia (5 star), that I haven't yet seen. The distinct disadvantage of this street for those with a car is that a public garage is a walk away. (Taxis can take guests straight to the door.)
With a car I personally wouldn't want to tackle the heavy traffic in central Porto (been there, done that), trying to avoid its tram lines in the process. So since you'll have a car, if you wish to stay at a 5-star, I'd stay at the Yeatman and use its parking (for a fee) and take an inexpensive taxi or a long walk across the bridge or a short downhill walk to catch the boat shuttle across the river to start your center city sightseeing.

Porto Hotel Teatro is really very well located. No trash there (trucks) I don't know how to explain, but trash trucks are not good concerning noise.
There are 4 or 5 hotel in front of yours, one of them (eurostars) has a funny story, they bougth one of the oldest restaurants in Porto, the one that created "Francesinha", and a few monthe later the same restaurant opened a few meters (by a few meters I mean like next door) away, with the same employes, the same decoration and the same dishes! The name of the restaurant is "A Regaleira", and I'm sorry I cannot explain how this was so funny for us, locals. It was like "oh no, Regaleira closed, they sold their building, this is so bad", and" oh no, capital, money, is better then tradition", and whatever you can imagine, and just a few month later they opened again... almost in the same place. Well this is funny for us, locals, I guess.
Meanwhile, I would like to inform you that very near you hotel, at Rua do Bonjardim, you have "Pedro dos Frangos", the best chicken in the country. Very cheap, by the way.
And if you're interested in local food (home food, not fancy) a few meters up you have the restaurant "Palmeira", only locals (old, very old, like over 80) very good food, and of course healthy food, not much salt or pepper, just good food. Not at all expensive. It's for us, you know, for us locals eating there. Lunch.
Concerning your hotel, well... after this, please ask me. Not before.
