Which phone for month trip to Nothumberland, UK?

Thank you for all who answered my last post about which plan to use for trip to Northumberland (not as spelled in my title),England. I have pretty much decided to go with T-Mobile but the choice of phones is quite large. I have read posts here and on letstalk.com and it looks like the Motorola V300, Nokia 3200 or 6610, Samsung E715-T or SGH-X427 and Kyocera KX414 as well as SonyT300 and Motorola timeport are some of the most recommended. Any experience with these phones with T-mobile in that part of the UK?
Thanks again for your help!!

How dull, I use a tri-band phone with my SIM in it world over, I'm sure you can do the same - ask a phone store - that's what the assistants are actually paid to do!

Dear mkingdom2,
Thank you so much for your kind and helpful words. This is a birthday gift for my son and unfortunately, the sales associates are only too eager to sell you ANY phone as long as it is with their carrier. I was hoping to obtain some practical advice from those who actually use their phones in various countries, especially in England.

All networks in the UK now have virtually all over coverage, as for the phone itself, well that's just personal preference.

I take it you are taking a US T-Mobile phone and SIM to UK and roaming there. As for coverage is concerned, T-Mobile has roaming arrangement with all four real (not virtual) networks in UK so you have the best of both worlds. You may find that in more sparsely populated parts of Northumberland you may have trouble getting a signal. You can check with coverage maps in O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile (UK) websites.
