UK cell phone prefix?
Does a UK cell phone prefix have to have a certain number of digits? I've just received my telestial cell phone. If I'm looking at my assigned phone number correctly, my prefix only has three numbers. Should it contain four of them?
It's a european SIM card, so it won't work in the US, otherwise I'd jst dial it....

The prefix for mobile phones in the UK is 7...
Here is a typical UK cell phone number (made up but with the appropriate digits)..
07735370833 (don't call the number, I just used my own number and randomly switched digits)
Within the UK, people would call you by dialing those digits as above...
People calling you from outside the UK would dial 011 (if calling from North America or 00 if calling from Europe) 44 7735370833 (you drop the lead 0, the country code for the UK is 44)..
But my question to you, is why you would buy a UK sim card from telestial...
There are T Mobile UK (which is probably right now the best sim card to get because of their tie in with your call world which allows you to call around the world to landlines (and all American and Canadian cell phones) for 3p/minute (and they subscribe to the EU roaming agreement!)from the UK.
The other day I saw a T Mobile UK sim card on ebay for $5.95 including shipping...also you can get a T Mobile UK sim card for free by going to their web site and having it delivered to your hotel...
Although it may be one of those international UK call phones (usually an Isle of Man or Jersey number) which would be in the same format as above.

Oh, good -- xyz123, that looks like my number, too. I guess I will be fine.
I bought a phone and SIM through telestial since they offered a cheap phone with free incoming calls within the UK, France, Italy, and Spain (precisely where I'm headed) using this one SIM card.
I have never had a cell phone -- and don't really want this one -- but for the first time while I'm abroad, it will be important to have for emergencies when others need to reach me.
I use calling cards when I need to make calls. Which isn't often.
Thank you for your help; I appreciate the help.
