I really think the OP is asking about the "roving" markets, not the market streets.
We also stumbled on the av. Pres. Wilson and were WOWED. The foie gras guy at pl. MOnge got me good when he intoned "we take VISA"!! SO good.
Also bought a beautiful smocked dress for my then 2 yo granddaughter--from someone else!! LOL
They all have these beautiful displays of vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads. Love love love them.

I rarely go to any street markets, because the closest ones are 2 metro stations away, so I rely on my very small market street and the covered market next to it. Unfortunately, the monthly newspaper of the 18th arrondissement recently made a price check of every market in the 18th arrondissement (street markets and market streets) and found that my covered market is the most expensive one in the entire arrondissement, but at least the market street is cheap. Anyway, the market street is rue l'Olive, but on top of that my metro station is closed until the beginning of September, so I'm not expecting anybody to rush right over.

Our limited experience (only 4 trips to Paris) is always in the same area - near the Place Baudoyer Market on R. Rioli. It's twice a week (Wed & Sat) and very, very small.
But one of the vendors there (each time we've visited) always has unbelievable strawberries.
We always buy strawberries and oranges, keep them in our hotel room, and have breakfast each day in our room with fruit and coffee and pastry from our nearby vendors.

Once you find the vendor with the very best fruit or other product that you want, you should stick with them, because it is a point of honor for them to keep up the quality with their specific supplier at the Rungis central market.

We like the market at Av. President Wilson. Kerouac is right about the prices, but we still go each time we are in Paris for the WOW factor.
Also, there is a booth that sells hats. My DW loves to shop for hats in Paris. When we went to Printemps on one our first trips she picked up a tiny wisp of a hat to try on for me. I showed her the price tag, which was way over €600. That frightened us both right out of the store.
Now she manages to buy equivalently (at least to my eye) stylish headgear at that President Wilson booth for around €30 - 35.
You can bet your life I will be dragged back there in October.

Thank you Aduchamp1 for a good laugh especially after a stressful day at the office. Now kerouac, don't concern, as we can always go by taxi, bus or our own pairs of legs to your market and take full advantage of all the goodies on offer. Looking forward to it.
