which is the better Burgundy? oenophile question

I have two bottles from Burgundy, which I bought two years ago almost. yipes.

1993 Savigny les Beaune (Camille Giroud)

and

1997 Chorey les Beaune "Les Beaumonts" also Camille Giroud

anyone want to take a stab at it? want to open one for the day I close on my new house. it's either that or the Chateauneuf de Pape from 2.5 years back. (don't recall the year and don't feel like tearing into it right now...

Although, a lot depends on the domaine (and I'm not familiar with Camille Giroud), '93 is generally considered a much better vintage than '97.

Since, it appears that you want to celebrate your house closing, go with the good stuff - '93. On the other hand, if it were me, I'd also quickly drink up the '97 as soon as I can.

Tough choice. . .

you could always drink the both hahaha.

Save the CDP. If it's a 1998/1999 it will last forever (just don't store it in the rack over your fridge

If you want to get any moving done, just drink the '93 and enjoy.

I am not familiar w/the winery either but due to the age I would drink the '93. It may already be 'past it' depending on how it's been stored, etc.

The Savigny-les-Beaune should be wonderful.
