Which European Destination for weekend

Hi, I was wondering if you could give me some help.

It is my husband's birthday in November and I was thinking of taking him to a European Destination for a long weekend.

Although we have recently visited America, Asia, Australasia we have yet to visit much of our own continent. We are from London so I wasn't thinking of UK or France since we have done a lot of that.

We mainly like sightseeing, shopping and nice food. I was thinking of Italy, perhaps Rome or Venice as we have never been to either. But wondered if anyone else had any suggestions?

Thank you for your help.

If it was me (and I am in Ireland) I would go for Rome or Barcelona. Lots of cheap flights from London

So many places to choose from. I love Rome and Barcelona. I would love to go to Madrid. Copenhagen is also a lovely destination for a weekend. Prague and Budapest are also fantastic. What kind of things do you like doing and that may help narrow it down?

Barcelona gets a vote from me, too. Sightseeing, shopping, and food - all three! Good public transport and tourist infrastructure as well.

I found Barcelona to be a very lively and interesting city with a lot to offer.

I'm also from London, I'll echo the suggestions of something Spanish or Italian - I'm in Barcelona/Bilbao from this Saturday. I'll be posting my opinions upon my return, they might be of some assistance to you as you do not have to book your trip right now.
