Where to stop between San Gimignano and Milan?

In Italy now June 12, and we are visiting San G tomorrow morning and afternoon. We are flying out of Milan Saturday, June 15. We would like to start the drive Milan tomorrow June 13 in the afternoon any suggestions for a place to visit on the way to Milan? We don't want to drive more than three or 3 1/2 hours tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for your help.

Do you want to stay inland or drive part of the way along the coast?

Parma or Modena would each be about halfway if you're staying inland.

Camogli would be a very nice stop for lunch. It's a small village along the coast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/camogli

Probably about two hours to Milan.

I too vote for Camogli or Portovenere on the coast. If you real destination is MXP I suggest taking A-26 and via Novara.

I think that both the inland and coastal suggestions are good. Portovenere is fairly easy to drive to, and maybe has more hotels, especially on the approach road to the old town.
