where to stay in provence

My wife and I are celebrating our tenth anniversary. We are picking up a car in Munich in late april and flying out of Nice two weeks later. So far we have two nites in Venice, three near Siena, one on the NW italian coast and one night in Monaco. We'd like to rent a small villa or apartment in Provence for the second week. We enjoy wine tasting, anything to do around the ocean and would like to get to know the area better.

a)any suggestions for locations to stay in Provence
b)is there anywhere on the coast one can rent a sailboat (bareboat) for a day?

Thanks,

For a slightly larger town with a few more amenities, we enjoyed our stay in St. Remy a couple of years ago at Mas de Carassins (sp?). We also stayed just outside the small town of Bonnieux for another portion of our trip. Rousillon also looked gorgeous for a day trip. I am not sure how close these are to water for your sailboat rental, but we did do a day trip from Aix to Cassis which was gorgeous on the water.
cheers,
CC

Since you want to rent a boat, I'd stay by the cost, maybe in Cassis and also the best Provence wine is in Bandol.
Tempier also makes the best Rosé.

I am a bit confused by the length and logistics of your two weeks; it just doesn't add up. Let's go over this:

You are planning a two-week vacation.
Flying into Munich.
2 days in Venice.
3 days near Siena.
1 day on the NW Italian Coast
1 night in Monaco.
One week in Provence.

Based on your posted info, I have a couple of questions:

Why are you flying into Munich?

Are you really planning to drive straight to Venice upon arrival to Munich?

have you consider train travel while in Italy, car while in Provence?

if you prefer the ocean, why are you not spending any time in the French Riviera?
why are staying in Monaco vs say, Nice?

Thanks for all of the input. We are purchasing a car for european delivery and the only option is to pick it up in Munich. We're probably building in more drive time than we might normally do but we are kind of excited about trying out our new wheels.

You should have a lot of fun--and driving in Germany is a good way to get started on European roads.

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Three summers ago we stayed in both picturesque St. Paul d'Vence (about 30 minutes north of Nice on a hilltop overlooking the valley and sea), and Cassis, a tiny port village just east of Marseilles. We loved both, though very different!

We stayed outside Cavaillon in late April last year at the folloiwng palce http://www.vrbo.com/26479

It was exactly as described - larger than the photos would indicate. The kitchen was wonderful - lovely if you like to cook
