Where to stay in Obidos?

I am planning a trip to Portugal and want to stay one night in Obidos...I was wondering if anyone can make a good suggestion?

Thanks!

The Pousada in Obidos is the one pousada I would avoid.

Person X,

This is a third "yes" for the Estalagem do Convento. Ask for a room facing the walls--you don't want to face the streetside, which is the main entrance road to Obidos.

Their rooms are smaller-scaled then most Portugese properties, but they are well-maintained and the bathrooms (at least ours) had beautiful Azueljos tiles as the bathtub surround.

The breakfast was a bit meager--but adequate. The estalagem is a 2 minute walk to the tower gate which brings you into the old town.

We did not like our dinner at the hotel, and would not have an evening meal there again on a future trip.(Nice atomosphere--but the food quality was disappointing.)

It is a short taxi ride to the hotel from the train station. (Long, uphill walk, otherwise.)

Ok everyone, thanks for the info. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I just spent the afternoon installing a new hard drive and reloading all my software. Yawn...

I'll be at the Estalagem do Covento, then. Thanks again.
