Where to stay in Naples close to train station?

My kids and I need to stay one night in Naples coming from Venice, unless we add another night to our Sorrento stay starting next day.

As we haven't been to Naples before, just train station, we are thinking on spending Saturday night and spend the afternoon walking and trying Napoli Pizza.
We basically have a full day.

Where would you recommend us to stay so we leave public transportation to the minimum?. We may take the ferry to Sorrento instead of the Circumvesuviana next day.

Like 3 years back
but check booking.com for recent reviews
check rankings for all around there and pick
what you like based on budget.
Also stayed at the one in Rome back then.
And you are most welcome.
PM if needed

Thanks!
My husband arrives in Rome early Saturday, but the kids and I are traveling by train from Venice to Sorrento to meet him in Naples. We were debating meeting and spending one night in Rome, but I believe it makes more sense and it's cheaper to go to Naples instead.
