Where to stay in Mykonos
We plan to visit Mykonos for 4 days in mid June 2009. We would like to stay somewhere close to Mykonos town. It would be nice to have a pool available and a pretty view.
Can you suggest such a place for 100 Euro or less for a double room?
How about Hotel Tagoo? Does anyone have experience with this hotel?
Thank you for your help!

I stayed at the Hotel Rochari in May (80 euros/double) and it has a great pool and a great view and a great staff. It's at the top of Mykonos town so the view from our (huge) balcony was over the whole town down to the harbor.

Hotel Tagoo looks nice, I have kept it on my favorites for years,, but, it is not right in town, so unless you get a car you will be walking in and out at night, and my experience is the roads are not lit..
Most hotels in that price range are not going to have a pool, but who needs one ,, you are in MYKONOS!! Get on a bus and get to a beach!

Thank you for your replies. Hotel Tagoo ways they are a 15 minute walk from town and they do have a pool.
The Argo Hotel looks nice too, for 100 euros. I can't tell what the location is like though. here is the website: http://www.argo-mykonos.gr/
I looked at website of the Hotel Rochari and it looks very nice. It would cost 125 Euro per night for a double.
I would like to be in location away from all the noise and partying but close enough to walk to town. And it would be nice to have a pool available.
Thanks again for your help!

Here's another vote for the Rochari.
Superb location, great views and a wonderful staff.
If you do decide to book, please request a sea view room on level one or level three. (They have four rooms, in the family's original house which is attached to the hotel, that face the road - these are larger but will have some traffic noise).

My husband and I stayed at the Princess Mykonos last May. It was
wonderful, has a wonderful Italian
restaurant they even baked us an
anniversary cake. Beautiful pool
and quiet, across the street from
an interesting villa, that has
security guards all over.

Thank you for all the information about the Rochari. We are considering it but it is more than I had wanted to pay per night.
I cannot seem to find where the Princess Mykonos is located. It looks nice from the website, but is it located near Mykonos town?
Thank you Cheryl for pointing out that the Argo hotel is not located near Mykonos old town.

Thanks for the information, Gaspard.
That sounds like it is too far away from the old town for us.
Do you know of any inexpensive places to stay that are within short walking distance to the old town?
Thanks,
Laurie

I would go to the Hotel Elena. They have no pool, but the pool is all around Mykonos. Hotel Elena is one of the oldest hotels in Mykonos, the neighbour is hotel Rochari. Hotel Elena belongs to ... Elena, a woman with an assured sense of style and hospitality. If you ask you can use the pool of their hotel in Aghios Ioannis (3-4 km from Mykonos town). BTW, Hotel Rochari has a second hotel in town called Little Rochari, it is less expensive than Rochari.

Hi Laurie
We stayed a few years ago at Hotel Carbonaki.
I remember walking along a beautiful lane from it to the Hotel Gaspard mentions. They are close together and the location is great. The Carbonaki is in town but located on a very quiet little street only a few minutes from the restaurants and shops etc.
It has a small pool but doesnt have sea views. The family that run the hotel were so kind and friendly to us. Here is the link:

This years rates are on the accommodation page and are within your budget.

Thanks Scottsara,
The Vencia looks very nice!
We have already booked a room with Hotel Tagoo for 100 Euro per night for our stay in Mykonos in June 2009.
It gets excellent reviews on Trip Advisor so I hope it will work out well for us.
I don't know much about the Tagoo area, so if anyone knows more about this hotel and the Tagoo area, please inform me.
Thanks again for all your help! Laurie

Hi All,
My fiance and I are wanting to plan a trip to Mykonos for our honeymoon the first week in May. Does anyone know what the weather is like this time of year? Warm enough to sunbathe and hit the beaches and pool? I noticed that weather.com had it at around 60 degrees, which is still a little chilly. Any recommondations would be greatly appreciated!

I was in Mykonos in mid-May of 2008, and it was definitely too chilly for the beach or the pool. Sunny during the day and sort of warm but not warm enough for the beach imho - at night it was quite windy and chilly, and it rained one night. (Otoh, it was quite hot in Santorini just one week later and warm enough for the pool, so maybe it's luck.)
