Where to stay if flying into Nice?
Six of my friends and I are flying into Nice for a weekend on the Riviera. We are not sure where we should stay or whether we should look to rent an apartment or just find a hotel. Any ideas on an excellent itinerary that includes at least one day on the beach? Thanks!

Most apartments rent by the week; so you'll be better off looking for a hotel. But be aware that Nice hotels book up well in advance during high season (May through September); so if you're going at that time, find a hotel room as soon as possible.
Nice beaches, alas, are mostly pebbles, not lovely sand. If you want a comfortable beach, consider staying over in Juan-les-Pins, next to Antibes, which has a very nice beach.
If you're going to be in the Nice area only 2 days and 1 will be at the beach, that doesn't leave much time for sightseeing. I'd suggest you just head for Vieux Nice and wander around that area.
