Where to spend 2 nights pre Venice cruise….

Late September cruise out of Venice. We will stay in Venice 2 nights before cruise. We have been there a couple times already and will have 2 additional nights to hopefully explore a new area. Thought of Bologna? Parma? Cinque Terre? Already have been to Several of “the Lakes”. Maybe something like a Winery? Truffles? Beautiful resort?

Milan seems to have the best flight options for us but would consider another airport for arrival if it made sense.

Any other ideas come to mind for this region?

Thanks!

Where is your cruise actually leaving from? Most cruise ships can no longer dock in Venice.

I have got the same type of dilemma very recently when I gifted a trip to Venice to my parents. They were based in Venice and, after long deliberations, we decided to do the trip to Florence - it is (dare I say) cooler than Bologna and Parma and the train connection from Venice is extremely convenient. The trip went very well and seems to be just perfect for 1-2 days
