Where to rent a car in Devon???
We will be spending several days in Buckfasleigh, Devon for a wedding. Would like to take the train from London to near by, then rent a car. Can't seem to locate a train station that rents cars. Any suggestions? thanks.

Railway stations don't hire cars. Less pedantically, there are very few railway stations with car hire places actually inside the station
But there are usually several car hire operations within a hundred yards or so of railway stations in city centres or at major motorway intersections.
You might - I don't know, but a Devonian might make a suggestion - find such a place near Newton Abbot, or the less frequently served Totnes, which are the nearest intercity stations to Buckfast (incidentally, if you're searching, you'll get better results by spelling the town properly; it's Buckfastleigh).
But there are certainly several such places near Exeter or Plymouth stations - both about 30 mins from Buckfast. For all three towns, after you've googled or whatever for car hire businesses, note the postcode of the address you're given. Then enter it into www.multimap.com and zoom to see precisely how long or messy the walk from the station is likely to be.
It occurs to me, though, that this advice is so screamingly obvious you might have some other requirement. Are you trying to find an out-of-town station to avoid driving in Plymouth or Exeter? If so, the nearest out of town station is Bristol Parkway, though it's 80 miles or so from where you want to be. A very few trains a day call at the nearer Tiverton Parkway, but I've no idea whether there are any facilities there.

Dear Renovich
I think I may have a solution to your problem.
You can take a train from Paddington in London to St Davids Station in Exeter with Great Western railways : (phone 0845 7000125 to book a cheap Apex fare)
then Enterprise Rent a Car offer a free pickup service from the station to their office at Marsh Bank road by the station : phone local office 01392 421400 from the UK. I suggest you arrange this in advance. From Exeter it is an easy 30 minute drive down the A38 to Buckfastleigh.
I hope this is of help.
If you need any further info please e-mail me at [email protected].
