The envelope please-

According to Raileurope, part owned by Swiss Railways, you get the 50% discount only after the 1st day of use on a flexipass until you've used the last last day. not necessarily for the whole month period.

another thing i can't figure out - do you get the 50% off city trams and buses. Swiss passes are good on these if you use a day of travel but language is vague on whether on other days on a Swiss Flexipass you get 50% off city transit - postal buses yes. Arcane question but if anyone has got the 50% off city transport, please let me know. thanks

well after asking the experts at BETS they say it seems that 50% does not extend to city trams or buses but only postal buses as well as all other forms on transport but not city transport it seems.

I just looked at rail europe.
$18.00 for one pass.
And I had to delete the $10,00 PROTECTION plan. What a ripoff.

Only Postal buses? That's not quite true. After looking at the map of the valid transportation net, I found some yellow lines that are used by regional buses and not the yellow postal ones. I definitely would use the attached map to show exactly where you can go with your Swiss Pass.

What I find very confusing is that only some local buses routes are shown on the map. When I use my half fare card, it's valid for all of the bus/train transportation in Switzerland. I don't understand why the Swiss Pass wouldn't be.

thanks schuler - yes i should have known that as for one the Grindelwald bus that goes to Meiringen over the pass is not covered. And some others i was planning to take not either.

yes the map shows most buses regular tourists would be taking - the ones the Swiss Pass is valid on, which are the great majority i believe - that is those that go from train stations into the hinterlands.

and with a Swiss Pass i took two parts of the Three Pass routes from Meiringen and each time had to pay a SF 10 (?) so so Alpine Ticket required as a supplement i guess on Alpine routes.
