where to buy a new ladies watch in Paris

Hi: We'll be in Paris next week and would appreciate your help as we will be looking for a new watch. Any suggestions on where to get a good selection at a good price... under $1000 ( obviously, not Cartier, etc.). We saved this excursion as part of a big anniversary celebration. Thanks - your help is much appreciated.

I bought a very nice watch on Rue Bonaparte, near St. Germain.
Shouldn't be hard to find since that's all they sold and the window was very inviting.

www.louis-pion.fr I've been going to the Pion boutiques since either the late 80s or early 90s, I think it was. There are several locations in Paris.

My favorite watches though are my Emerich Meerson ones. But, the company had some financial problems, I think and I haven't been able to find real info on it since. The boutique was on Blvd.St.Germain in the 6th.

Emerich Meerson had been making watches for a long time. I bought my first one around 1991, and wear it basically every day and haven't had any problems with it. Just last weekend I replaced the watch band with another alligator one, as the watch originally came with an alligator one. I'll have to start doing a search again to see if the company ever came back into business.

One day I was in Cartier, here in the States, and the salesman who helped me was Parisian. When he saw my Emerich Meerson watch, he got really excited and said that that was what he and his wife wear. But, that of course, due to working at Cartier, he has to wear Cartier at work. I bought my watch for about $500-$550. around 1991 when Cartier watches, of the same style, were selling for in the over $1500. range. Smiles. Happy Travels!
