Where should we go
This summer, 2005, my sister(18) and I(20) are going to travel Europe. We are going to fly into London, take the train to France;where we will re-visit Paris for 2 days, and go back to Versailles. After that we will go to Italy, and so far are planning to go to Milan, Verona, and Venice. Then we were planning to travel through Austria, stop in Vienna, and continue to Slovakia-where we are going to meet a friend. After a week there we are going to Prague(maybe) Germany to visit, Luxembourg, and then Brussels.
I was wondering where we should go should go on our tour route. We have already traveled extensively in Germany so really aren't going many places there. But we are planning to take the train, so where ever we go has to be accessible from it, and we really don't speak any other language. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of good places to visit. Thank you,
Katrina

I was also planning on staying in hostels, does anyone have any suggestions of which ones I should go to. Also, has anyone used their bank cards to withdraw money from atm's. I was wondering if they would work?

Hallo,
I'm from Mikulov (70 kilometers from Vienna /50 miles/ It is border town.) and I wont you recommend to visite this town and to discover its surrounding. Mikulov is historical renaisance town and center of Czech and Moravian viniculture. There is Unique Viticultural Exhibition in the Chateau Mikulov. The display also includes a remarkable vat from 1643 in the Chateau cellar. When I tell you that a craftsman and his three assistants worked on it for 38 weeks to finish it, you will not be surprised by its noteworthy capacity - 101,400 litres. There is very interested exhibition of historical wine presses too.
Very seductive chance is to explore viticulture and wine in small wine-cellars of mikulover wine-growers, taste local wines. The cellar of Mr. Solarik is very unusual. It is located in the limestone cave. You have my invitation to taste our wines.
There is large picture gallery of the Dietrichsteins' portraits in the Chateau Mikulov.
Mikulov was center of jewish comunity in the Moravia. The jewish sigts in Mikulov: The historical Jewish Quarter, synagogue with museum of the history of Mikulov's Jewish quarter and the large Jewish Cemetery. The cemetery contains around four thousands gravestones.
Near from Mikulov is Lednice-Valtice Area, the large-scale landscape park protected by UNESCO. If you are interested to nature, visite the Palava hill. This hill is protected by UNESCO too.
More information about town www.mikulov.cz
There is the bus timetable Vienna Mikulov http://www.tourbus.cz/mezinar/000080n.html
Yours sincerely

butterfly,
How many days, weeks will you be in Europe?
What are your interests?
How did you figured out this trip (France - Milan - Verona - Venice - Vienna - Slovakia - Prague,...)? Are some of these towns 'mythical names' for you or do they mean something in particular for you?
You can get about everywhere by train in Europe, but the low-cost air travel companies are also an option (Easyjet, Ryanair, and many others).
Also, try not to spend your holiday on trains nor planes, stay at least 3 or 4 days on the same spot. For instance, if you would be in Venice for 4 or 5 days, Verona could be a simple daytrip, there is no need to stay overnight in Verona.
Go and buy some guidebooks and tell us more about what you are looking for.

I'm going to stay in Europe for 41 days, and the places that I have listed so far were places I've read about and I thought sounded interesting. The only places that we are going to visit, that are set in stone, are in Germany(outside of Wuzburg, and maybe near Aschaffenburg.)
I want to find pretty towns that are interesting, and have more than just churches and a castle. Places that offer a cultural experience, and are unique.
I was planning on focusing on a several places in each country that have a lot to offer, instead of traveling all over. My sister and I have traveled in Europe before with our parents, so we have seen alot of castles and old churches. And while these are great- we are really looking for more on this trip.
