Where should we drop our rental car and catch the train.

We are going to be having a rental car for our week in Tuscany and plan on turning the car in before heading to Cinque Terre. While in Tuscany we will be staying in Pienza. Where would be the easiest place to return the car and catch the train? We're willing to drive some distance if that would be easiest. We're not sure how far it is from the car return to the train station at different towns. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I would think that Pisa or La Spezia would be the logical drop-off point.

There are usually drop off locations at the train. Check into that as your first option.

Colleen,

Where are you picking up? Chiusi and Orvieto are both easy places. On our way to the Cinque Terre, we orginally considered returning our car in La Spezia, but changed our minds and dropped in Orvieto where we were staying.

When we passed through La Spezia on the way to SML, I was glad! It looked like quite a large city and I wouldn't have wanted to find the rental office there!

Pisa airport would be good and even Siena not too bad. Rental offices are a little ways from the train station and would require a taxi in Siena (uphill).

Thanks for all the suggestions. It's looking like Pisa might be the easiest place to return the car.
