How long would it take to drive from Siena to Cinque Terra?

Also, do you think that a rental car company would let us do a drop-off in La Spezia?

It should take between 2 and 1/2 and 3 hours to drive from Siena to La Spezia. To make sure you can drop off a car there, ask the rental agency ahead of time. There may be no charge, or possibly a slight charge for dropoff. Just make sure the agency has facilities in both cities.

Three and half hours is about right. Drive is easy and very scenic. You will go right by Pisa and Lucca. Might want to make a stop at one or both. I usually make my reservations through AutoEurope and specify drop-off requirements. Never have any problem. In 2000, AutoEurope made my arrangements through Avis which had a dropp-off right at La Spezia Train Station. Dropped off car and dropped contract in a box. Easy!

Cindy, may a suggest you a funky itineray, without charge roads, crossing wonderful hills and, in the second half, looking on yor left at the sea until Lerici ?
Less than 200 km, but about four hours to drive.
Your departure is from Siena, then Moneriggioni, Poggibonsi, Certaldo, Castelfiorentino, Empoli, San Miniato, Montopoli Val d'Arno, Pisa, San Giuliano Terme, Vecchiano, Viareggio, Pietrasanta, Serravezza, Forte dei Marmi, Massa, Carrara, Ameglia, Arcola, Lerici.
Almsot everyone of these towns wants a visit. It's mandatory for Pisa. Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are very nice for beach and sea. In Ameglia there is a very famous restaurant, maybe among the top thirty Italian restaurants.
Have a nice trip.
Ciao.

To all the CT explorers: Is the drive into Vernazza an insane proposition?

We are driving from Bellagio down to Positano and are obsessed with stopping for a couple of days in Vernazza.
