I have had several wonderful dishes in Tuscany made with this vegetable. The first was a delicate lasagne which was very good, even though I generally am not a fan of lasagne. The other was a simple stew of fresh tomatoes and zucca gialla, drizzled with olive oil. I had both at a farmhouse in rural Tuscany - fabulous!

JMO but Osteria Del Cinghiale Bianco is very much a tourist restaurant as the Rick Steeve's sticker and endorsement in his books confirms. That is enough to keep me away.

As for Il Latini, this IMO and IME is even more touristy than Osteria Del Cinghiale Bianco. Il Latini was great about 30 years ago (my first visit) but a more recent visit (7-8 years ago) confirmed that it is no longer even close to what it used to be. It reminded me of Italian dinner theater in a cheesy way.

I feel the same way about ZaZa in terms of the crowd they cater to.

I guess that means these are all good choices for those looking for food that would be recognizable and appealing to the average American palate but for my money and IMO over many years of traveling to Florence, there are tons of better options for those looking for typical Tuscan cuisine.
