Wherever my grandson is!
If he can't be nearby, then second best would be on the hiking trail from Kleine Scheidegg to Wengen, sitting on a bench overlooking the glacier-filled Alps and the Lauterbrunnen Valley, eating our picnic lunch. True peace indeed.

My sister and I took trips to France, England, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Ireland, followed by a big city tour which included Berlin, Munich, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Krakow, Budapest, Prague and Vienna.
We enjoyed them all, but at first she was reluctant to spend time in Gemrnay (our third trip). She thought it was going to be kitschy. But when we had been in the country just a couple of days, she said, "I could live here." Me too. I love it.

London. No matter how many cities and countries I visit, I always come back to London. Loved it from the very first moment I stepped foot there back in the early 1980s, and each time I visit I hate to leave. Tried to move there permanently at one point, but wasn't able to. My goal now is to be able to spend 2-3 months a year there.
My second favorite place is Sydney, Australia. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could.

My heart is in Belfast, Ireland,
where "Nanny" my beloved Irish grandmother, grew up, and where I visited the old Botanic gardens to walk in my Nanny's footsteps.
My heart is in the Swiss Alps in springtime, where a riot of wildflowers blooms on the North Face trail above the little village of Murren in the breathtaking Berner Oberland
.
My heart is always open, reserving a space for new people and places to fall in love with.
My heart belongs to my husband and favorite traveling partner!

Italy - anywhere in Italy. So many close seconds: Greece, Spain, UK, France- but I find I compare everyplace with Italy. I've never met an Italian town I didn't like. And I have to say that I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more in 30 replies, especially given the percentage of threads here about it. I am so having Italy (and Europe in general) withdrawal as this summer for the first time in a decade my summer trip will not be to Europe.
Hey Nikki - I also fell in love with Colorado in the 70s (went to college there for a while) and even intended on moving there but when I went back it already wasn't the same. I'm going back this summer for the first time in a long time.

Paris. We went for the first time two years ago. When we left, I told my husband I absolutely HAD to go back in two years. My husband, who dislikes traveling but fell in love with Paris in spite of himself, made the "mistake," of replying, "Whatever."
Two years have passed, and we have our tickets. I can't wait!!

First is NYC. Though I didn't grow-up there and left five years ago after living there for almost 14 years, it still feels like home. Rome is a close second. There are many places in Italy I still want to visit, but for some reason I keep finding myself craving another trip to Rome.

to Italy in a minute.
