Where in Europe is Marihuana freely available ?

This is a serious question, so people I hope to get serious answers only. Can you suggest places where marihuana is freely available, I mean man where you won't be bothered by the police and where you can buy without problems ?

Looks like it's fried your brain already, or are you too young to have learned how to spell and not capitalize marijuana.

Pasquino ... if you find my posting objectionable, I suggest you don't answer it. This is a serious question, made by a serious traveller, not a stupid Easter bunny.

Hey Pasquino,
according to the Miriam Webster Dictionary, there are two spellings for marijuana, and neither are capitalized. You sure are a smart fellow! Bob, I can't answer your question, but keep looking, brother, and good luck!

As far as I know there is no such thing as marihuana. So I cannot imagine where it might be available. However, if you go to www.ricksteves.com there is a section on drug usage in Europe which might help!

i will treat your question as legitimate...there are many "coffee shops" in amsterdam where you can order pot..as far as i know they are all non-drinking establishments...the first one that comes to mind is called the grasshopper and is located next to the canal boat tours.

There is a small Beagle dog waiting at your port of arrival in the U.S. That little doggie will be the start of something really BIGTIME for you -- I hope.

Just to let you know that marihuana is the old fashioned way of spelling marijuana. The "j" is pronounced as an "h" sound in Spanish. So much for that. Check out the coffee houses in Amsterdam. Enjoy it there, don't bring it home, the dogs are really snifing at customs.

There are hundreds of so-called coffeeshops in Amsterdam (and every other town in the Netherlands with more than 20,000 inhabitants) where hashish and marihuana are freely available. They have menus and you just buy what you like. These products are not technically "legal" (the international anti-drug mafia doesn't allow us to decriminalise them), but they are tolerated and you can buy limited quantities without any problems. Have a look at www.boomchicago.nl or www.simplyamsterdam.nl for lots of info. Switzerland, Spain, parts of Germany and Copenhagen are also places were you can easily buy marihuana, though not as easy and hassle-free as in the Netherlands.
Have a nice time and fight with us to decriminalise a product that is no more harmful than alcohol or cigarettes.

Heaven for cannabis-lovers have always been The Netherlands (specially Amsterdam, but in other cities there are coffee-shops, too). All kinds of coffee-shops, and if you like to relax and smoke, do not enter the first you find, there are lots of them, not all so nice, so, wait until you find what you like, in order to smoke what you want, take a coffee, a chocolate or a beer... Christiania (in Copenhaguen, Denmark), is a free-area where you can buy your hash, I did not like so much, it should be some kind of alternative society and for me, it should not be based just on cannabis, as it was mostly in summer (some selling pizzas and chicken, and not much more). I've read that Swiss Gov. have declared cannabis legal, too, but that you'll have to prove Swiss citizenship, I do not how strictly this rule will be followed. Be careful at the borders, it is supposed that EU is a non border zone, but if you're young and police suspects that you have been in Holland(specially in France, where it is forbidden even to have cannabis for self-consume), they might stop you for a time. In other places, like where I live, in the Basque Country, it is not so difficult to find marihuana, maybe not so good (but indeed much cheaper), there is an association, Kalamudia, who works for the legalization of drugs and organizes for the press, like a protest, plantations of cannabis. In Southern Basque Country (under Spanish rule), the traffic of drugs (included cannabis) is forbidden, but not the possesion of a certain amount for self-consume (although this is not a label if police stops you, at the end they won't do anything, mostly retire the hash, but you might be a long time with them answering their questions and so).

So, you can indulge yourself with Scotch Whisky, Czech, German or Irish Beer, French wine, Cuban tobacco, Russian vodka, liquors from everywhere, but please, no cannabis. Hypocrite!

Thanks for the feedback brothers n sisters. Read all the you said and think about tolerance, acceptance of what we do not agree with etc. This has just shown why americans are not so popular in europe. As for the comment on lonelyplanet...I could tell you you are not welcome on this planet and there's a place for you in hell, but I would never do that brother, because I believe in PEACE and TOLERANCE.

Be careful with space cake if you buy it in Amsterdam. We got some and no one told us how much to take so when we ate a big piece each and it was NOT a pleasant experience. I've read of others since who also took too much thinking at first it wasn't effective or strong and had a bad time because it can make you feel just paranoid and not high at all just ugh.

Hello Bob,

the Netherland is the place to go.
Since Sjoerd mentioned Germany. You`re not being sent to jail when you carry a small amount with you, that`s correct. The police will take your ID number etc. anyway for further notice. There`s no place in Germany where you are able to buy drugs legally like the places in the Netherlands.

Miriam
