Hi from one of those blond(natural), blue-eyed Swedish Minnesotans! Born in Mpls. suburbs, currently live in northern suburb of Chicago. Taught Spanish and German for years, so have lived/studied/travelled in Spain, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Austria, Germany, etc.
It's my excuse to keep on visiting the rest of the world to sharpen up or create new language skills. Thus, I have been able to follow my bliss.

I was going to hang back so that I could have the distinction of being #300 but was afraid that the thread would die out by then and I did wish to participate. Are we all fascinating people fascinating other fascinating people ...or do we just need to "get a life?" Re: several months back to Tondalaya- that was the name I was going to use as a "pen name". You must be as old as I am to remember that old movie with Hedy Lamar & Walter Pigeon.
Born: Missoula Montana USA Family moved to Washington, then Idaho and finally California during WWII.Have lived in various parts of CA..went to UCLA (Southern CA) but mostly in the beautiful San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area.Montana is great but I must live near the ocean. Loved our trips to England and esp.Italy where I did family research & found famiglia.Eventually plan to do the same in Germany and Ireland.I am shamed by the non-Americans and their ability to speak "American" (I would say English but according to English folk we don't speak English). I am still "pidgen-Italian" speaking.
I know it is many months later but I thank those in other countries for their kind words concerning Sept 11. Rosemarie
Is this the end ????

So happy to see so many countries represented here! Always love the input from European Fodorites. Haven't logged in for a few months and really missed my travel buds!
Born in Nashville, Tennessee; lived in Orange County CA 25 years, husband transferred to Atlanta 6 years ago. I want a home in Palm Desert, CA and one in Paris!
