Hola desde Espana--three women students studying in Malaga for three weeks. Just spent the last weekend in Sevilla and Cordoba. Next weekend, we have to meet our profe in Granada for tours on Saturday, but want to add on another destination. We can get to Granada on Friday, leave Granada Saturday afternoon, then need to return to Malaga late Sunday. Vamos Fodorites--a donde vamos?

Personally I'd stay in Granada - there's plenty to do in just 2 nights. If you're determined to somewhat shortchange Granada I guess Antequera (by tran) is an option or Priego de Cordoba (by bus). But Granada will be alot more happening.

I agree with CathyM: Stay in Granada. You can only scratch a bit of the surface in one day. Baeza and Ubeda are the wrong direction for you and, frankly, despite spending 2 days in Ubeda, I was not overwhelmed. If you are determined, I'd head south out of Granada to Lanjaron and pick up the road to Capiliera. Gets you into the Alpujarras in a hurry and the scenery is beautiful. However, it is not a road for the faint of heart. From there drop down to Nerja and take take coast road back to Malaga.

Stay in Granada, or perhaps go to Torre del Mar by the coast close to Málaga and have a seafood feast at fabolous but affordable Freiduría La Cueva. Later, you might go on for some serious talk and good vibes in one of the many cafés in or around Paseo de Larios, and/or dance the night away in one of the clubs so popular also with Spanish tourists. Cool off at the four kilometer wide beach the next day and take one of the frequently running buses or a taxi back to Málaga.

Priego de Cordoba is a good choice, lots of churches, palaces (not very big, but impressive), a whitewashed Adarve (former jewish quarters) covered with pots, and very few tourists.

Stay in Granada. There is lots to see there and good food. It is quite a lovely city with interesting neighborhoods for walking, the cathedral and caves nearby to visit, etc.

My rec is: enjoy Granada!

Yes, stay in Granada. There's puh-lenty to see by day and, my goodness, they have QUITE a nightlife too. In fact, Granada's nearly as famous for its tapas and tapas bars as it is for the Alhambra.

Include a night visit to the Alhambra. It's a wonderful way to see it, combined with a morning visit to the gardens before it gets hot.
