Where are the good hotels in Agrigento?
Have been doing a lot of research on many sites and can't seem to find a recommendation for a really good hotel in this area. This is a special vacation for us. We're also traveling with our seven-year old grandson. Thanks for any help.

There aren't a great many hotels in Agrigento and the town itself is nothing special. Most people visit the Valley of the Temples on a day trip and stay elsewhere.
The temples are easily explored in one day and unless there's a particular reason you want to stay in Agrigento other than to visit the temples, I'd suggest just a day trip. That being said, I do remember seeing a nice Agrigento hotel on the web somewhere. It was a villa with a pool and looked quite lovely. Sorry I don't remember the name.

We stayed at the Colleverde Park last spring; it is close to the temples but you still would probably need to drive there from the hotel. The hotel is pretty good but nothing special, although you can ask for a room for a view of the temples, which are lit at night and offer a lovely vista from the hotel. The more upscale choice in the area is the Baglio della Luna. The only hotel right in the valley of the temples if the Villa Atena, which gets very mixed reports in the guides and on the web. Knowing what in know now, I would stay a night in Baglio della Luna. They have a pool. OR you can stay on the beach not far away; there are many hotels and it might be the best choice with your grandson. I did not visit the beach so cannot help there.

Hello,
We stayed at the Baglio della Luna and would recommend it without reservation. It is south of the town and a bit south of the Valley of the Temples. You can see the temples from the grounds, but it is a bit of a distance away. We really enjoyed our dinner at their restaurant.
Agree that you could do the visit as a day trip, but we enjoyed seeing the temples lit up at night, and then walking/climbing around the sites the next day.
Another site I hope you will consider is the Roman Casale at Piazza Armenia - amazing mosaics. I think a 7 year old would like it, because it is an open air site, with catwalks over the mosaic floors. One room is filled with mosaics of animals - tigers, elephants, ostriches.
Hope you have a great trip with your grandson.
