I would recommend doing a west coast route where you'd start from Copenhagen in the south, then make your way up the Swedish west coast to Gothenburg, and finally Oslo. Each city is around 3 hours apart.
I think that's a very nice succession of city trips and they make perfect sense since they're basically along a straight line from south to north and quite close together.

I think your trip is shaping up to be excellent. Very glad to see you do the overnight ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki. Our experience with that was delightful and quite different than what others mentioned about too much drinking. We found it all exceptionally child friendly with lots of entertainment focused on children (basket ball players on stilts even) that gave the whole experience a very family-like vibe. Even though we weren't traveling with kids, we found it delightful.

Any other thoughts on this proposed itinerary? I'm getting close to pulling the trigger, so thought I'd ask for any final thoughts. My only hesitation is perhaps Helsinki—3 nights there, but that equates to two full days, and the plan has us on a day trip to Tallin for one of those. Wondering if we should perhaps add a day in Helsinki (adding a day to the overall trip) to not be too rushed there.
