<<< Prague is reasonable, but I agree get there before everyone around the world discovers it. >>>

LOL it's on the UK Stag/Hen party trail - you can't get much more discovered than that.

And accomodation is EXPENSIVE. I ended up sleeping in the cell next to Václav Havel's

Would Beijing, China interest you ?
The Great Wall, Forbidden City, Imperial Palace, Ming Tombs, Confucious Temple, Temple of Heaven ??
If this interests you - try Pacific Delight Tours.. I have gone twice with them ( March 00, and March 05 )and plan on going again in a couple years..

I agree with a number of posters in this forum. Romania for me is one of the least expensive destinations in Europe. My friends and I spent 8 days touring Romania last September 2006 and surprisingly, it did not cost us that much compared to what we paid for our visit to Krakow, Cesky Krumlov and Prague before that. I will definitely recommend visiting Romania before the hordes of tourists discover it.

Prague is one of the most visited cities in Europe by tourists. It isn't remotely undiscovered. It is moderate in cost, I'd say. Hotels aren't that cheap, but other costs are on the low end.

A lot of people (from the US, I would guess) have some unusual idea that Europe is like the tropics and are always talking about going there in the winter and wanting beaches or warm weather. I don't understand why they think Europe is like Florida or Mexico, but they often do. So, the question is really where is cheap, I guess, as you must forget the beaches in Europe in winter.

I think Turkey is a good idea, as well as some of the other places people mention, like Romania. The cheapest places are always the small towns and country in comparison to capitals, also. So almost anywhere can be cheap, pretty much, in my opinion. Who wants to go all the way to Europe in winter just to stay in the cheapest possible place, which is probably going to be terrible and boring.

Okay, how about a wonderful holiday in Albania, that should do it.

A cheap holiday in Easter Europe in the winter reminds me of a Woody Alan joke:
Two people are in a restaurant and one is complaining about the food "It is just terrible, the worst place in town"." So why are you eating here" the other person asks.
"Well", the first answers " the portions are huge".
