Big ballon,
Everyone has given you great suggestions.

We spent four months in Paris two years ago and I blogged about a lot of places mentioned here, here's the link I think you might find it useful. Lots of pictures, tips and opinions. There's a very long trip trport here somewhere if you click on my name but the information is more manageable on the blog.

I'd second the Grand Mosque, which was built in the 1920's, we loved our tour of Modern Architecture, and the Street Art walking Tour too,

I agree the Musee Jacquemart-Andre and the Musee Nissim Comondo are a wonderful combination along with a walk in Parc Monceau.

The Islamic collection at the Louvre is very interesting as is their section on non-western art. Ot you could go to the Quai Branly which has an incredible collection.

The Albert Kahn Gardens and the Promenade des Plantes (mentioned above) are lovely too.

I think the Instagram suggestion is a great idea.

Here are my Top Ten Recommendations, which includes Paris Greeters (which is a great organization) and lots more!

Hope this helps!

I need a place for 100 EU a night URGENT PLEASE. Anywhere near a metro but at this point I don't care anymore. F!!!ing hell I will never ever do this again!!!!! Why did I let her talk me into this I'm so stupid. Nail clippings everywhere including my bed, skypeing and hysterical laughing at 3 AM waking me up, loud disgusting burps, 30 minutes to an hour late to everything. Just inconsiderate as F!CK. Personal time I saved for three yaers. She won't go halves if we split up but I don't care anymore I need some peace. Last straw was when she whispered au revoir maderfacker to a pharmacist because they didn't have what she needed. Who does that she's like an animal abroad! Then justified it with relax they don't know what it means. The pharmacist looked mortified she obviously did! I knew it wouldn't be perfect but I didn't imagine it to be this bad. I'm starting to think she has some disorder or something. I need to get out of here please help me find a hotel. The worst decision I've made.

bb--sorry to hear you and your friend did not make good travel companions. Best to start with a short trip rather than three weeks or so together. I've travelled (twice) with a friend who is chronically late so I sympathize with that. Wastes your good vacation time.

Best of luck in finding somewhere to stay for the rest of your time.

Try Hotel Argenson in the 8th. It fits your budget and is a nice place, especially for the price.

You will get a lot more and better answers to your dilemma, Bigballoon, if you start a new thread. Just click the "Post New Topic" button at the top left of this page.

In the meantime you might try Hotel L'Esperance http://www.hoteldelesperance.fr/ in the 5th. It is about in your price range.

bigballoon: a lot sure happened since April 20 when you first posted that you weren't sure yet when the trip was to take place. That's a quick disaster.

Hotel Baudelaire, Opera has rooms for about 100 euro. It's used by MSF (Doc's without Borders) a lot.

If none of the above work try Eurocheapo.com. Sorry this is happening to you. How long have you been in Paris? Are you sure you can't hang in there? It might not seem so bad when you get back home. Good luck!
