Whats Best with 7 days in Lisbon
My wife and I will be in Lisbon in early november with two other couples, What are the best places to see and where should we focus our time outside of Lisbon at that time of year?

I'm no expert on Lisbon, and I'm not at all sure how seasonal this is, but I thoroughly enjoyed a night at the bullfights (every Thursday night? but is it all year long?) - - I have posted about this more than once here. Bull is not killed. An amazing display of horsemanship, showmanship and pageantry.
Best wishes,
Rex

Gulbenkian museum. Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (loved it - new part of bldg is gorgeous).
You could spend the day (& then some) at Belem where you'll find the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos (served as a confessional for sailors about to embark on perilous sea voyages, and pilgrims), a naval museum (absolutely huge - and fascinating) with memorabilia from early sailing days, royal barges, etc.
Fantastic! Across the street is the Museum of Popular Art (objects of the region). Also there: the Monument to Discovery (impressive) and a bridge that is a copy of our Golden Gate Bridge.
Walk through the Alfama (was told it's like the Casbah in Tunisia). Listen to Fada music.
See the Se cloisters (destroyed in the 1775 earthquake, revealing Roman ruins below.

Include a visit to the Castelo De Sao Jorge in your travels. This will afford breathtaking views of Lisbon. You might want to begin your day with a visit to the 'castle' then leisurly walk down and work your way thru the Alfama district, stopping for lunch and exploring all the little shops that are tucked away in the winding streets.
Day trips outside of Lisbon (and easily reached by train) include Sintra and Cascais. Between the two, and accessibly by bus, is the beautiful Cabo da Roca, westernmost point of Continental Europe, and offers windswept views of the Atlantic.
For a great prespective of the city, ride the #28 tram during a workday to experience the 'flavor' of Lisbon - and don't forget to ride the Elevador da Gloria funiciular, which climbs up a VERY steep steet to the Bairro Alto district, which has wonderful shopping, dining and views of the Baixa and Chiado districts below.
Wearing comfortable walking shoes and armed with a good guidebook, Lisbon and beyond is yours to explore. ENJOY!

The highlight of our trip to Portugal, for me, was a visit to La Pena Palace (out of the Arabian nights) in Sintra. (Easy trip by train from Lisbon.)
Excellent toy museum in Sintra - tons of toy tin soldiers, including Germans saluting Hitler. All kinds of toy airplanes, cars, etc. from 1940s back to 18th century.
