What would YOU do?

Hi there, my husband and I are leaving for our honeymoon in Greece next Tuesday!

We are flying into Athens May 18, and the original plan was to spend a few days there, then visit Delphi and Meteora, Then head to the islands. Now the problem at hand here is that we're REALLY itchin for some R&R! We've been considering spending the first 2 nights in Athens (hotel is already booked) then heading to Santorini etc, and at the end of the trip going back to Athens and doing the Delphi/Meteora trip. The problem with this I fear, is that we will not want to leave the islands, and never make it to Meteora. We both really want to go-- the first time I saw pictures of the Meteora I was shocked when I realized I would get to go there! BUT I'm afraid it will get overlooked with that "Oh, lets stay another night honey..."
BUT again, we want to get down to the islands now! Arg, I simply cannot decide what to do. So what would you do?

**A bit off topic, but I posted a while ago about info for getting to/from etc Delphi/Meteora and did not get any responses- I'm still looking for information on that if anyone has anything to share. Thank You!

How many nights are you currently planning for islands, and how many could you add if you changed your plans? I have to say that the week we spent in Santorini was the most relaxing trip I have ever taken in my life. There isn't a whole lot to "do" there which is exactly what we needed...spent our time wandering, drinking, eating, and enjoying the scenery and each other. Heavenly!

We wouldn't be gaining island time if we saved the Delphi/Meteora trip until the end, but we would get there sooner!

We have about 10 days for islands. Starting in Santorini then probably going to Naxos, and perhaps Paros if we feel like it.

Beanweb- I must admit, your trip report is one of the things that prompted this dilemma, it sounds like heaven and I want to go NOW! Tee-hee

You have some specific questions about Greece, so let me suggest that you are more likely to catch the attention the most people who can help, if you include 'Greece' in your heading.
Perhaps repost again with a title like,
Reorganize Greek Honeymoon?-Leaving Soon

good luck

Sorry Elaine, I posted this in the Greece forum, I didn't realized it was cross posted into "Europe."

Atthebay, just for future reference, there is no "Greek Forum". All posts are to the Europe forum and if the post title doesn't have a country specified, readers don't know until they read the full message, what country is the subject of the inquiry. To answer your question, you will be tired and in need of R&R so heading to Santorini toward the beginning to the trip will do you good. And you will probably have more energy to visit Delphi, etc., later. Happy Honeymoon!

Thank you mamc, I don't frequent these boards often; I'm glad to have that information. Cheers.
