I was 21 and 3 girlfriends and I had saved enough money to take a TWA tour. I remember the 3 of us poring over the colorful TWA travel book trying to choose which itinerary. We picked the 16 day, London-Paris-Lucerne-Venice-Florence-Rome one with first class hotels. It was a really fun time, but a whirlwind. Lots of coach travel, magnificent train ride from Lucerne to Venice through the Alps. By the time we got to Rome we were exhausted and so sick of sightseeing. That was 57 years ago.
