The worst hotel I've stayed in was Hotel Tilsitt on Rue Brey in the 17th dist. Rooms are very tiny and there is no ceiling above the toilet. There are only wooden slats and we even noticed a person working above it once. We had already paid for the room so we just put up with it and hoped that it didn't occur again-it didn't.

The best hotel was Hotel du Rond Point de Longchamp. It's a small hotel but the location and view of the Eiffel Tower was just perfect.

What a drag about Hotel de Seine. During recent visit, I scoped out area hotels for my next stay and identified Hotel de Seine as the best in the area for the price. It had a nice lobby, decent rooms, great location and seemed much nicer than where I was staying (Deux Continents on Rue Jacob) for the same price. What gives?

OK, maybe I should add that I stayed at the Hotel de Seine quite a while ago.

It may have gone under renovation since. I remember that the room had a particularly dirty and old rug and the reception staff wasn't particularly friendly. Might have changed in the meantime, as well.
But I felt also bothered with the street noise. Quite busy with yelling pedestrians during the night.
OK, I agree, that's not the hotel's mistake, but since then, I prefer to stay on a more quiet street with no restaurants, bars, etc. in its close neighbourhood in the southern part of Saint-Germain which is also less touristy.
As for the the Saint-Andre-des-Arts, it's still a place I would avoid, mainly because of the street noise and it's also very sound-conducting inside. ;o)
I'd probably prefer the Hotel du Lys on Rue Serpente, if I was looking for such a budget place now.

The worst : the EUGINE ( SOMETHING) I had to sleep in my coat because there were no x-tra blankets; I checked out the next day at 6am after hearing somone singing ouside my window all night ; plus it was in what seemed at the time to be in a seedy area.
The best: the Lancaster the best hotel I've ever stayed at anywhere bar none.I still dream about it.

Worst was the Best Western Jardin de Cluny. The hotel was O.K. but it was August and w//o a//c we had to sleep with the windows open. There was a bar below and the noise went on until 3 a.m. My husband got rundown and ill from lack of sleep [now we travel with a noise machine]. One couple was checking out early due to the noise. We should have moved to a room in the rear. The best was the Royal Monceau [a special no longer offered by Air France.

thoroughly enjoyed La Terrasse - foot of Montmartre - handy for Metro - cheap restaurants nearby - excellent substantial breakfast buffet (and you can smuggle out rolls and ham for lunch) - pleasant staff - speak English - beautiful rooftop restaurant with panoramic view of Paris skyline
