What to wear in April

I'm going to be in Italy, Greece and Turkey through April (possibly into early May). Any clues on what to pack? Is the weather mild at that time of year, or is there still a chill in the air? (I'm from tropical Australia, so I may feel the cold!) At this stage I'm planning on taking lots of lightweight long pants and t-shirts, with a jumper and jacket in case of cool days.

Knickers! Do not forget to pack your knickers. I spent so much time fretting over linen this and cotton that - I forgot the bare essentials. I had to buy all new undergarments as soon as we landed. DH was not thrilled.

Hi PW 30 - it still might be a bit nippy - I went there in May and needed a leather jacket as well. Like you I'm from tropical Australia - Cairns. I've still got the leather jacket and haven't worn it since!

I've done my spring break in Italy, Switzerland, France and Germany many times over the years. The weather in April is very unpredictable. We've had shirtsleeve weather and sunshine with no jackets needed. We've also had SNOW. I recall the biggest snowflakes I had ever seen just days before Easter in Stuttgart one year. We had snowflakes the day before Easter at our friends' "mountain" home near Rome just a couple of years ago.
I never know for sure what to pack. I'm from the midwest where we get serious winters, but when I'm on spring break, I like to find warm weather! It isn't a "sure thing" in Europe. I can't tell you the number of times that our friends tell us that the weather was gorgeous the week before we arrived, only to have it change for the worst! LOL Ah, but then, we love to visit Europe so we keep going... and going... and going!

Black jeans, long sleeve cotton shirts, Its what I wear to work and its what I wear when I travel, plus my daggy elastic waist surf pants with my reds football jumper for the plane...I look dreadful but God I'm comfortable. Yep I bought the leather jacket in Athens cos I was cold, but in southern QLD I get to wear it a lot.
