What to wear?

I will be attending a wedding in late October in Athens & have no idea what a woman wears to a Greek wedding. (This is such a "chic question!") Also, are there any items of clothing that are frowned upon for women as I do my sight-seeing? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Maybe you should ask the people who invited you what the nomal dress is for a wedding in Greece or at leat for their wedding.

I would wear a cocktail dress, all the greek weddings I have been to (including mine) have been very formal but I don't think it will be quite as formal actually in Greece. I wouldn't wear a dressy pantsuit it would have to be a dress(my inlaws get upset when I waer pants to church). As far as sight-seeing wear what ever is comfortable, if you are going to churches or monastaries I wouldn't wear anything too short and they may or may not allow tank tops.

anything too short, too bare, too skimpy, too bright, flashy is what you don't wear to a wedding(never white) or funeral, haven't your moms ever taught you basics as that?

Well, you sure wouldn't want to take fashion advice from MY mom. Glad I didn't.
