Ah CAAA, the clothes question always brings up so many post. In my experience for October I tend to pack black. But not everyone looks or feels good in black. I would bring clothes that you can layer. Venice can be quite chilly and rainy, thunder and electrical storms actually. But who knows anymore, the weather patterns are not consistant.
I would bring clothes that can be layered. I would have one basic color that you enjoy, be it black, brown, gray etc. For sure you want to bring two pair of shoes that are good for walking hour after hour which you no doubt will do. I would make sure one pair could handle the rain and puddles. Wear one of the pairs on the plane. And you will probably want to make the third pair of shoes dressier for restaurants in the evening. You can buy lovely scarves in Italy for all kind of prices..and they make wonderful memories for years to come. A pair of silk underwear ( two pieces with the top scooped neck and long sleeved and the pants long legged) would probably be good to take in case it is cold, especially in Venice and it takes little room in your luggage. Cashmere sweaters are easy to pack and are good when it is cold. Some Tshirts (if you wear them under your sweater it adds warmth and also keeps your sweaters clean and also can be worn by themselves if it gets warm). Jeans are quite popular in Italy now but if you have rain they sure can get wet and take forever to dry. I wouldn't take more than one pair. Pants and a skirt in the basic color you chose with a dressier top will work well for restaurant dinner. Personally I like a long microfiber trench coat (again in a neutral color) which I take on the plane with me. One that is cut so that you can wear it over sweaters etc. is good.
A lot of women like to make their second pair of walking footwear boots. I don't have much luck with finding comfortable walking boots but many women do. A small evening bag will work if you want to feel dressier in the evening.
Just take what you feel good in. Don't worry about "looking like a tourist", that is the error so many people worry about. If you are dressed appropriately for the weather and the occasion you will be fine.
Best wishes to you two on your wedding. Italy is a beautiful location to have a honeymoon. May your life be filled with joy and many more trips!

Just bring your normal clothes. The same ones you would wear to spend a day out and around, or go out to dinner somewhere special, in your own home city... for fall weather. There is nothing special about Italy (as far as what you wear I mean).

I pack in layers and choose two main colors so I can mix and match. Black and camel work well for me personally. I pack knits as they travel well.
I like twin sets for the versatility (I have encountered a wide range of weather in October in Italy), and slacks. For a ten day trip, I pack two pair of nice black trousers for night, one to wear with a lower heel and one with a higher heel.
I bring 2-3 more casual pair for day in different weights (colder in Venice and warmer in Rome). I pack a black silk turtleneck and a light weight leather jacket. I pack a dressy cardigan to wear over my black pants and knit top as it is dressy enough for a nice dinner out. I also have a long black knit skirt that is great for travel and mix and matches well.
I run so I also pack an assortment of running attire which I was out and wear again.
Two pairs of flats to alternate days, my running shoes, a low heel boot and and a mid heel pump. The low heel boot (black leather) works for rainy days as well.
I do not wear jeans in Europe as they are not my personal taste here or abroad. I prefer a more polished look but that is personal preference.
I wear high heels at home out to dinner but they do not work for the cobblestone streets.
I get all of this - plus a small steamer - in a medium suitcase with wheels that is not too much hassle to get on and off with on trains.
I bring a carry on with a change of clothes, based on too many times when my luggage misses its connection and takes a day to find me.
Enjoy Italy...it is the most beautiful country in the world and perfect for a honeymoon!
