I'm sorry the black pudding didn't hit the spot. My German background has me love blutwurst and kishka, along with boudin noir down in Provence and Cajun country - - and I think Bury black pudding beats them all, with its dry subtle earthy flavor.
I liked the Bury market because it is big and rambling, with all kinds of vintage touches in the signs and products, plus there are meats cooked up fresh - - but I love big classic markets in general.
The Bury Transport museum is cool too. The tram ride is nice from the city. Bury is a fun day out from Manchester, I think, despite the remonstrations. Good chippie shops too.
