What to do?

I'm open to any suggestions here. I'm flying into Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on 8/8 at 1200ish. I then have to meet my party in Rome on 8/11 at some point in time. I'd like to start making my way towards Rome when I arrive at FRA. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to go? Thank you.

There's an 8 pm flight from Frankfurt Hahn to Rome on Ryanair right now - 20 euros total.

So spend your 2.5 days seeing the Rhine/Mosel region, which lies roughly between FRA and Hahn airport.

Where to go? Here are some places for you to look into...

-Mainz (nice city, smaller than Frankfurt, very near FRA)
-Marksburg Castle (tour, in Braubach)
-Trier (Germany's oldest city, Roman roots)
-Cochem and Burg Eltz (atmospheric wine village & medieval castle on the Mosel River)
-Bacharach (Rhine village)

check luggage restrictions. may very well make the 20 euro tempting fare similar in price to non- low cost airlines.

Ditto to the mosel/rhein.

Frankfort Germany was the cheapest flight from the states. I'm meeting my party in Rome 3 days later. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do for the 3 days. Something to do inbetween Frankfort & Rome. Also, I'll be spending a week in Germany, but thanks for the suggestions.

I am still not clear how you want to travel--plane, train, car?
You obviously have many options between Frankfurt and Rome but won't have much time to stay anywhere. Munich would be a good destination if by train. Then maybe over the Brenner Pass (great scenery) to a city in northern Italy like Verona. Or you could take an overnight train or trains and miss the scenery but have more time for sight seeing.

It depends somewhat on what you are planning for your week in Germany. Are you already planning to spend time in the Bavarian Alps?
