What the hell is LOL?

I see theses abbreviations all the time and I've figured out IMO and IMHO but to me LOL means lots of luck which definitely doesn't fit in all the time!

Yes, Likely On Layover. (You'll see this on stickers affixed to the foreheads of snoozing passengers sitting in airports all over the world!)

It's not an acronym, it's a Dutch noun meaning 'fun'.

(people are always asking about that one - me included when I first used this site)

BTW, on a recent outbound for a r/t BWI-AMS flight, I ran into someone I knew in FC who was doing a RTW, stopping in AMS before continuing on to CDG. (He's a GA married to an FA, so I'm not sure how he ended up in front on NR tix, but there he was.) He was planning to hit the RLD. "Wouldn't your SO be PO'd if she found out her DH was off doing S&M?" I asked. (I consider a little T&A on the TV to be about the limit, IMHO.) Last I heard, he was still AWOL, so the conclusion of this little story is TBA, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with VD and I'd be ROTFL.

It was a girl's sorority in my high school. [no joke] The guys said it meant Lover of Liquor. I always thought it meant Lots of Luck in a sarcastic application, like Rots a ruck.

My 13 yr old told me it is Laugh out Loud. I don't know what the IMO & IMHOs are. I'll have to ask her.
