What should we see?

Hi
My husband and I are going the dordogne/aquitane (sp) region of France the end of June for 10 days...Can anyone recommend places to see. I hear the caves of Lascaux are closed is there anything similar?

thanks

Let me ask a question in return: WHY have you decided to spend 10 days in the Dordogne/Aquitaine area?

djd, you may want to repost this question with the words dordogne and aquitane in the title. You will certainly get some responses.

Also include what interests you, if you will have a car, how much time you want to spend in each region.

You can then come back to it by a clicking your name and read the responses.

There are many helpful people here, you just have to catch their attention. Have fun with your research. Deborah

Not to be judgmental or anything, but I find these types of posts to be absolutely astonishing....

You are presumably paying at least a few thousand dollars to get yourself to the Dordogne...yet you are asking what to see? And you've heard the caves at Lascaux are closed...is that all you've "heard?"

Why on earth did you decide to go to the Dordogne in the first place? Why not Iowa or Croatia or Vietnam or the Seychelles?

Hi DJ,

I do think that you need to do a little research.

Lascaux is closed, however Lascaux II is an almost exact reproduction of the cave.

Other caves with prehistoric art are Peche Merle and Font de Gaume.

I suggest that you do a search on this forum for "Dordogne".

You might find the Dordogne part of my trip report helpful:

You expressed thoughts that I so very often have on this website!! Hard to believe that some people do so little planning or learning about a place where they plan to travel. Always amazes me.

Have mercy, this is the person's first posting. At least they found their way to Fodor's to ask the question!

HEY! I live in Iowa...it's lovely! No jungles or civil war anywhere! Of course, I'm going to Europe this summer...
