Before 89/90 I had never left Australia although I had lived and travelled over much of Oz. My husband is English and in 1989 his parents celebrated their golden wedding and paid for us to come and see them. That was a six week trip over Christmas during which we toured a lot of the middle part of England. This fired our latent travel bug and in 1992 we spent 4 months in Britain, travelling from John o Groats to Lands End, self catering and having a marvellous time.
Since then we have had tours of Italy France and Switzerland; we don't mind coach tours because I hate navigating and missing the scenery and my husband does not want to drive on the wrong side of the road (for us). Britain is fine, Europe and the Americas - we'll let someone else do the driving.
We had a wonderful tour of the Canadian Rockies and Alaska, followed by four of the Hawaiian Islands.
This year we return to Britain for nine weeks (it isn't worth paying exorbitant airfares from Australia to only spend a week or so, so we save our holidays up) and we are spending most of the time in Scotland, Northumberland and North Yorkshire. But we are most looking forward to two weeks piloting a narrowboat on the canals of the Welsh border. We leave at the end of August and I can't wait!

Lived in Germany for a few years long ago. Traveled thru Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, France, Liechtenstein, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway with my first wife. Have been in 47 states(missing Alaska, Kentucky and N. Dakota). Western and Easterm Canada, Hungary, Czech Republic, Mexico and taken Cruises in the Caribbean and the Mexican Rivera. I agree with earlier posting on the cruise ships pressure to take their tours but I almost always go off on my own. In St Thomas we rented a jeep and explored the Island. Cruises are a way to be totally pampered (we all need that occasionally) and you can do as much or as little as you want. Its great seeing all of the places that you all go to. This year I'm going to Portugal and Spain, Next year to China and the following year to England, Ireland and Scotland.
Great travels to all.

Most of my travelling has been for work - exploration geologist, nice job, remuneration not too great! Let's have a look at the list:
Argentina
Chile
Belgium
France
Luxembourg
Australia
South Africa (home)
Botswana
Namibia
Angola
Swaziland
Zimbabwe
Zambia
Ghana
Tanzania (home for 2 years)
Kenya
Uganda
Ethiopia

When not working we (wife & 2 kids of 4 & 6 yrs, all of whom will jump into any car, bus, train, plane at a moment's notice) also love to travel. 2-6 week camping trips around in Africa in our 4x4 utility (working vehicle,no "chrome jerome"), and in between we save up all we can to go to "exotic" places like the UK, Europe, North America, etc.

Italy next (2001)! But for this year we'll only be able to afford the southern Namib desert...

best 2 all, AJ.
