info for thetravellingmom
We stayed at the Corte Grimani last August in a canal view suite. For us it was worth every extra cent-the views were priceless. In the early mornings we watched the work boats loading & unloading all sorts of supplies. Later in the day, the canal was full of gondolas-it was wonderful to watch. Our rate last summer was 320 Euros per night. If you look at the photo of the outside of the building on the website our suite was on the top floor to the very left (#501) If you can get a canal view, I'd go for it. If it is only a roof top view I'm not so sure I would pay the extra $$$. Hope this helps

YEADONITE- sorry you had a bad experience at Corte Grimani. I have read so many wonderful reviews. I think we are going to go for it - i'm just too tired of reading about hotels, searching through websites, etc and this seems perfect with the central location, apt. style layout, and washing machine!!

SAMK,
Thanks for your response - just what I was looking for...I just emailed CG to see if they had a superior suite available for our dates - that must be what you had.
It is now 360 Eu/nt.
I think it would be a treat for my daughters so see the canal at all different times of the day and from a new vantage point - above it all!
If it's not avlble then we'll just do the basic room w/ no view!

We loved the Foscari Palace. It was wonderful to arrive by water taxi and step into another century. The room and bath were huge and luxurious. The views of the Grand Canal were divine. The throaty rumble from the passing vaporetti ranks among my favorite sounds.

I love Venice so much the thought of it makes my heart ache.

I also loved Locanda Orseolo. It has a lot of great attributes - its location, its charm, its breakfasts - but I think what sets it apart from other similar options (I also like Flora) is the delightful, gracious staff.
