As new messages are placed in the forum, they shove the ones already there further down the page.
By replying to a messge, it gets moved back to the top of the stack again.
Some kind folks, worried that a message that's interesting may have slipped (been pushed) out of sight, "top" it by replying to it, without adding useful info. Or, they may add useful info, but this info also acts as a "topping" method.
Before I "topped" this message, it was right under London Visitor Travelcard, but I suspect it is now above that message.

Hi Suzy, welcome to Fodors. If you look way up at the top of the page to the left, you'll see in eentsy red letters the word "rules." Click on "rules" and on the next page, click on FAQs, where you'll find lots of information about how to use this board.

BAK: Thanks for your response, including the reasoning behind topping.
Betsy: I had checked out the FAqs, but just didn't see that last TTT note under all the more technical tips.
Thanks to all for the comments. Especially bozo!
