What is stick fetcher ?

I've read that this forum has become too cliquey and that it has become the domain of elderly stick fetchers,so what is a stick fetcher ?

Does it have to do with not being able to teach old dogs new tricks?

Whether it's true or not, I think it's a cute expression. Maybe many of us are just hanging around, wagging our tails, and waiting for someone to throw something out that we can fetch.

Sally - I'm with tat - give us the reference. Where did you read this? maybe I'll do a search on "stick fetchers."

I'm on this forum a lot and I'm certainly not cliquey and I don't fetch any sticks for anyone.

Finally I got it just like ...
old people could be called this assuming someone hates elders and talks of them like "skirt chasers" - "stick fetchers"

Sally - I did a search on stick fetcher and nothing came up. Can you please give the thread title or paste the URL here?

Thanks

Probably not, adrienne, because she's a troll poster.

sallycoba has two posts, both of which could be considered troll posts or not.

I think sally means people who are programmed and are set in their ways, but I don't agree with that. People here are diverse and although they may come here to plan, not all are rigid and some are quite flexible and fun.

I do agree that sometimes it becomes chatty about people's pets, etc. but if you don't want to read cutesy posts, don't. It is pretty simple. I think that chatty posts create sort of a community but I am not in a clique, they probably wouldn't have me.

Well, if the term is connected with "elderly" as originally mentioned, then a 'stick fetcher' might be one who needs to grab their cane before walking out the door. (not that there's anything wrong with that).

According to a website, a "stick fetcher" is a colorful, even poetic, name for a dog: http://www.sowerby.n-yorks.sch.uk/Year%2056/6poetry.htm
