What happened to the spelling thread?

Get ready..English words are gaining new meanings hourly. Why worry about site or sight..The site was a sight. Try and explain to a Polish 1st grade English student why 'eight' is spelled so. Eight of us ate at 8 o'clock. Try using actual English pronunciations to speak other written versions of site or sight. Syt, cite, cyt, siet...add some others.

I was just going to say that the poster immediately above is doing their best to resurrect it on the "distraction" thread but given the spelling error s/he made on that thread, well.....I'm afraid that "nectar" has gotten a little sour..or is it shopworn?

Re: Mary Fran's post on "disassemble." Jon Stewart on the Daily Show explained it this way:
"Mr. President, "dissemble" means "to lie" -- "disassemble" is what we did to Iraq."

LOL, Marilyn! 'Fraid you're going to have to wait a little longer. Since we returned I haven't had the luxury of a long stretch of time in which to compose a coherent trip report. If inquiring minds want to know, I'll get "a round tuit" ASAP.
