Great thread! Here's what I wear:
-My "fat jeans", oh so comfy. The cute lycra/cotton yoga pants sound great too.
-A fitted tshirt, usually black, and it has to be long enough so it doesn't ride up when I bend over.
-A hoodie. I learned the hoodie trick from my boyfriend -- you pull the hood over your eyes and you have an instant sleep mask. Oh yes and it must have zipper pockets for my money and lip balm and gum. I hate having that stuff in my jeans pockets, and I hate bending down to get in my bag multiple times, and the worst is putting that stuff in the airplane pocket (gross!).
-Mules or a similar shoe, rubber soled. I pack a pair of cushy socks for long hauls.
-My most comfortable bra.
-Well fitting panties! I once made the mistake of wearing a thong on a long plane flight.... NEVER AGAIN.

Thanks for the info, suze. I will lok for items with lycra. I think Travelsmith was mentioned here somewhere and I have been thinking of trying something from them. If you have bought their clothing, how does the sizing run? Lately, everything I buy is a size 8 - from jeans to dress pants to skirts and dresses - sometimes smaller for some items. I am on the short side (just under 5'5&quot and usually buy petites. Would I buy petite small from them? I was told their sizes are generous.

I think if someone plans to get drunk on the plane, they could at least have the courtesy to make their drink a "clear guy"...NOT read wine, for crying out loud!!! What are these drunks thinking!

LOL. Thanks for the wonderful, informative and helpful posts. They are great. I am still looking for the perfect travel outfit. Have two weeks left. I did try on the Chicos stuff but decided it was too much of an investment for just one trip.

So, will probably look for the most comfortable pull on pants on the planet (black), a stretchy t-shirt (not white) and a loose jacket, and pashmina (black). Armed with my eye mask, ear plugs, Ambien, big jug of water, and "Good Night Moon", maybe I can be comfy and catch a few winks...

Thanks again, travel experts.

Perfect! and thank the Lord for Ambien! Should I mention my Magellians 1st Class Sleeper that I use as a leg rest, my L'Occitane intensive moisture mask, extra lubricating eye drops, Origins eye gel, packet of sugar for mini facial scrub, Smart Water and .5 Valium just to top it off!!

Annie, how do you make a facial scrub with a packet of sugar? Is this something everyone knows about but me? Sounds fascinating...

The fancy scrubs are just a rip off. Just use a packet of fine sugar (the european packs may be rougher cut so be careful).

Splash you face with water, or moisturizer, pour the little pack of sugar into the palm of your hand, use your fingers to gently scrub your face all ove in circular motion, then your hands with the residue. Splash off with cool water (you might need a washcloth in the plane). Wipe up the sink for the next person and voila! Fresh as a daisy and glowing. Add a moisturizer back at your seat and you will feel like a million dollars.

Also, I have to admit (comfort psyco that I am) I do bring a little baggie of salt and sugar mixed with a couple of drops of essential oil - grapefruit is nice, or lavender). When I get to my destination I use that as a refreshing body scrub and soak in a bath to rehydrate. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

for the long haul sydney to europe, i wear jeans t shirt plus cardi and comfy shoes (sometime boots if flying to winter) with dvt socks. I take a cotton sleep suit to change into for sleeping so clothes don't get crushed. Spare undies and have a shower in stopover lounge (eg singapore) so get back on feeling clean

I'll have to try that scrub. Origins and Fresh etc sell sugar scrubs so it certainly makes sense! Thanks for the tip

also will add - cardigan sweatshirt or sweater. 3 levels of comfort:
- if really cold, button up
- if in-between, leave on, but unbuttoned
- if warm, take off and pronto! its an instant pillow.

whatever I wear has lots of pockets to hide lip balm, contact lenses + case, ponytail holder, glasses (for when I actually sleep on the plane), tissue/napkin (when your ginger ale that you've carried onto the plane explodes)...

Heavens, Goodnight Moon? So cute....

And thanks for the great thread!

I got a lot of good tips, too... never thought of wearing black to deter wine disasters, and I love the pashmina idea because I'm always freezing on planes. Also love the sweater hoodie idea and the sugar scrub!

I always wear something very comfortable, bring warm socks and my neck pillow, and take my ambien.

dina

Black tends to be the color that dominates my wardrobe anyway and on my last trip to Europe I found it was a color prominently worn by the locals.
Knit pants with a matching knit cardigan and a sleeveless shell works well for me on a long flight. By knit I mean the fabric is mostly cotton with some lycra added for stretch (no baggy knees). I like the idea of a hoodie serving as an eye mask.
Out of curiosity (I don't even own a pair), but are the capri style pants worn at all in Paris or just reserved as beachwear?
