OK - I'll just address the UK bit for now. Do you mean the Risley near Nottingham or the one near Liverpool, or the Riseley near Reading or the one near Bedford? I'll assume the Bedford one - but never mind -- almost all of your UK plans are either confused or impossible.

Just a few examples:

A day trip to Edinburgh and Stonehenge?? Impossible. Even if you meant Edinburgh OR Stonehenge - both are a long way from Bedford.

- Day trip to Bath - you want to drive all the way to Stonehenge and then 2 days later you want to drive back that direction to Bath?

- Day trip to Loch Ness? Again - from Bedfordshire?? That doesn't make sense.

- and you London plans are all over the place. Forinstance Tower Bridge is AT the Tower of London - yet you want to do them on separate days.

(Some of your Paris plans are as scattered)

I have no idea about the Portugal bits - but for the UK you should sit down woth a map and re-think things.

Thanks Janisj. I didn't really put things in a real good order because I guess I figure that my DH will since he used to live there. We've talked about the places but he hasn't addressed the order, hence the impossibility of it. I guess I'm just a little premature with it. As for Paris, I guess I need to do much more research as well. I mainly want to address the places to see but maybe not in that order. As for Riseley, that would be near Bedford. Any help your willing to offer would be appreciated?

I don't particularly know Paris, but I usually don't plan for 2 major museums in one day - I tend to get a little burned out. I'd rather spend 1/2 day Louvre, then have lunch, shop, whatever, then 1/2 day D'Orsay with shopping (actually, I'm not a big shopper, but with your itinerary, I'd divide the shopping day and the museum day).

I recommend some good maps, of Paris, London, Portugal and England. It will help to group things by area. For example, as stated above, Tower Bridge is next to Tower of London. I'd recommend making a wish list of places to visit, then map them out by area. Also, may want to check on any "closed" days for museums or Versailles. Day of the week can influence which day you do what.

Good luck! You are lucky to have such a long stretch of time. You should be able to do and see a lot with a lot of relaxation time....it's just gonna take a bit more organizing. Some of your things sound all over geographically... for example, Bath and Loch Ness.

Happy travels!

As far as the Paris portion of the projected itinerary goes, I think it will lead you straight to exhaustion if you try to visit both the Louvre and the Orsay on the same day. You could, however, delete the Champs Elysée (not really that much to see) and substitute the Orsay on the first day. Viewing the Arc de Triomphe won't take that much time, and a boat cruise on the Seine will give you some relaxation.
