Klondike; wear whatever lenght you like, perhaps not micro mini! Just to or just over the knee is what most women wear. And CynR; there are sales on everywhere; take your daughter to Zara and buy some cotton/linnen skirts and dresses.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Sneakers, white, black, blue, red, orange, neon green, yellow...whatever colour is so the rage in Europe right now so don't feel uncomfortable because you're in sneakers.
You'll be doing a lot of walking I presume and so my advice is to just be comfortable. Paris is tourist city and you will not feel out of place in anything you wear. Nobody cares..they're all going about their business.
Also make sure to bring at least a light sweater and an umbrella. While we were there last week it went from chilly to hot in two days.
OH! And also bring sunscreen and probably a cap! That sun can get pretty brutal when you're in it all day in a heat wave like we were! I actually got a little sun burned! :0) But it was fun!
Watch the weather predictions before you go and be guided accordingly.
AND HAVE FUN!!!

For Klondike, Skirts for practicality - around the knee... just above, below or mid-calf. long/ankle-length is a pain on stairs, subways, entering taxis, you get all tangled up.
