I'm planning my honeymoon to venice during Christmas I will be arriving on the 24th of Dec and leaving on the 27th. I dont know if anything will be open or even resturants. can any one who previousley visited venice during this time give me some info please.

yes this Dec and I have no Idea what to do

I haven't been there ON Xmas (arrived 12/27 last year). You should email or fax your hotel for help on what's open/closed. I'd imagine all museums & most rest. will be closed on the 25th. Best bet for eating is hotel restos. I can recommend La Rivista at the Ca' Pisani hotel.

I have been in Venezia on Christmas Day, and there is no problem finding cafés and restaurants open. In some Italian cities, restaurants close on the evening of the 24th which is when Italian families celebrate at home, but I'm sure some restaurants will be open in Venezia.

You will NOT miss out on the <i>feeling</i> of the city if everything's closed. IMO, just the opposite. The city is about walking, exploring, getting lost...Your only problem may be not finding a place open to stop &amp; have a coffee or drink to warm up. When I was there last December, it was mostly misty rain so bring rain hats or something with a hood. (playing duelling umbrellas on the narrower calles is a bit awkward).
It was only bitterly cold 1 day-otherwise about 45-55 f.

You should plan on splurging on a gondola ride down some of the less travelled canals. Have a great time &amp; congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

As others have said, Venice is very magical when most of the businesses are closed and the streets are deserted...Talk about a romantic atmosphere!
