What are the Virgin Airlines meals for NY to London flights? Remember the kosher or veg menu?

Hi All,
I took virgin a while back and the vegetarian meal was not great (pretty bad). Can one of you Virgin Airlines travelers tell me what was your menu? I'm hoping not to have the fiasco from last time and was hoping someone remembers what the menu was like and hopefully what the vegetarian or kosher menu was....

I'd like to choose the right category this time, and not wanting to get stuck was hoping one of you helpful Fodor members could guide a fellow traveler out....

I called Virgin and they don't know any sample menus (!?!?!). So hoping for your helpful guidance.

Sixty-five centuries of recorded human history, and this is the first one in which you can ask a question like this... and thanks to the internet, get an answer, complete with pictures:

Click on the airline of your choice, not just Virgin!

Best wishes,

Rex

Coach class? Upper coach class? Business class?

In coach on Virgin from NY to London in May the vegetarian meal I had preordered was a passable Indian style meal with chick peas as the main dish. I was impressed that they do offer a vegetarian meal as a standard menu option which they offer to passengers at the same time as their other 2 choices. (I can't remember exactly what it was but it sounded more appealing than my food-possibly ravioli.) However the woman across the aisle from me requested one and was told they had run out. The flight attendant said they order a smaller quantity of the vegetarian option and frequently run out of it. The passenger was told she should have pre-ordered a vegetarian meal to be sure she would get one.

This style of question really amuses me.

When I book any flight (usually BA due to Exec Club FF programme) the most important factor will be price. I'm going on a plane not to experience the cuisine, the flat-bed (doesn't everyone have one at home?) or 100 DVDs on offer, but to get from A to B. If getting from A to B involves some awful food, so what? I often leave the meal; after all I tend to only eat once or twice (at most) a day at home, so an airline meal is often superfluous to requirements.

Oh, I never have meat on planes. I can't stomach the idea of meat being re-re-re-heated, so I always order vegetarian (sometimes vegan depending on my mood at time of booking) so at least I can pick at something that hasn't been dead for a few years.

I'm vegetarian and take this flight often and never pre-order the vegetarian meal since they always offer a veg pasta selection in economy and premium economy. In upper class you can order from a menu that has quite a few vegetarian options, including a good cheese plate.

Tartangal is correct to point out that you run the risk of VA running out of the pasta dish before they serve you, so if you need to eat a main course you should pre-order the veg meal (although I've been on flights when they ran out of these too). If they run out, I just take the tray w/the salad, cheese, and dessert--more than enough to tide you over.

Have a terrific trip!

Glad to have amused. This is a real question though, and I do appreciate all the responses. Yes, I did book my flight a while back but would like to 'keep down' my food while in flight...
Anyone know how the kosher meal is?

Thanks all!! : )
