Wengen Hotels?
Hello. I am planning a trip to Switzerland and Italy in March/April. After doing some searches of this site, I have been convinced to spend some time in Wengen. I am choosing between the Hotel Regina and Hotel Vicotia-Lauberhorn. Has anyone stayed at either of these or noticed them while in Wengen. I am looking for something somewhat special with old world charm. Any info about location in the village, style, food, or general impressions would be greatly appreciated!

Good afternoon, Tiffany
If I remember rightly, both of these hotels are four star. I have not stayed at either, have stayed in Grindelwald in the past. But between
the Regina and the Victoria-Lauberhorn
I would pick the Victoria-Laubernorn as
it is just a bit smaller and you might get more personalized service. there.
You can located both of these hotels with informatioins on www.swisshotels.ch/
Surf WENGEN
Richard of Hickory Hills, Il.
Wengen is a autoless town, quiet at night and do not forget the Schlithorn
on your best clear day..

Thank you Richard.

I know that many of you have been to Wengen. Did you stay somewhere else that you would recommend? I am looking for something special as that night will be our anniversary. Also, would you recommend having the dinner and breakfast at such hotels or not?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Tiffany! How are things down there in SLO??? I'm up here near Sacratomato. I tried three times to answer you yesterday with no luck at all. I'm so happy you are going to Wengen, my favorite place in all the world. As someone mentioned before, Wengen is traffic free. The train drops you off midlevel in the town, which means that you will walk either up or down to your hotel. The hotels above the station are closer to restaurants, laundry, and what little shopping there is in Wengen. My husband and I prefer the hotels below the train station because the view is more spectacular. I would highly recommend the Hotel Alpenrose. I heard about it from one of those "Europe's Best Inns and Hotels" books. The food at the Alpenrose is fabulous, I wouldn't hike up to the town to eat anywhere else. Nice meats, breads, fruit, cheeses, and wines. The owners are very nice people and oh, that view... I wish you the very best of luck in your planning. I think the hotels you have been looking at are above the train station. You can't make a bad decision, you could just not make a really special decision. The Alpenrose is very special. Some day I will get back there again. Have a wonderful time. Gina

Thanks Gina. Yes, I did get the impression that the Alpenrose was a special place. Unfortunately, they will only accept a two night minimum and due to the time of year and the questionability of the weather, I would like to just be locked into one night and then stay longer if the conditions are ok. Thank you for your input!!! Any one else out there know anything???
